Time to just be. Time to Feel. Time to Reflect. Time to Pause. Time to Notice.
I think for many people, November and December are some of the busiest months of the year. As I sit here writing this, I find myself in a courtyard in Oaxaca after a week that held a lot. There’s this tension I feel in this current moment—the pressure to see more, to not miss out, to make the most of everything.
But as I sit here, I notice things I might have otherwise missed: the classical music playing softly in the background, the details of the cobblestone walls, the way the shadows shift as the sun moves. There’s so much more I could see…I just kinda wonder, what if if in the pursuit to see more I miss out on truly seeing anything?
So here’s a little invitation for you and me, as we continue to move through this season: let’s recognize that time is a gift, not a burden or a source of stress. If you find yourself rushing, feeling like you “don’t have time,” or overwhelmed by the pressure to do more, see more, or be more, know you’re not alone.
What is one small moment of beauty you’ve noticed recently, simply by slowing down?
How can you create space this season to give the gift of your presence—both to yourself and to others?
What would it look like to embrace time as a gift instead of something to manage or race against?
This weekend is the last cleanup at Tres Emes for the year, and I’m especially looking forward to putting into practice some of the lessons I’ve been learning. Even with a long to-do list—filling up the water jugs, making the icing for cookie decorating, and all the other details—I hope I don’t get lost in the stress of it all. Instead, may I be reminded, again and again (and again), that what truly matters is the gift time offers.
Ps heres a little glimpse of where I am writing this from. Gosh, what a beautiful world this is.
